Al, So Weird

"Weird Al" Yankovic gets a lot of shit. To most he is "that one cornball who makes fake versions of real songs," but anyone that has really taken the time to listen to him knows that there is a lot more to him than "Eat It" and "Fat." Sure, every album is going to have his signature parodies of the years biggest songs. But for every "I Think I'm A Clone Now" there is a "Velvet Elvis" and in the case of Al's UHF Soundtrack album, he tempers "Beverly Hillbillies" with what I consider his magnum opus: The Biggest Ball Of Twine In Minnesota. "Twine" is the epic tale of a man's quest for truth and happiness for himself and his family, all the while paying homage to the minutae of the lower-Middle class lifestyle as well as the true Americana spirit. What starts out at a simple family vacation ends with a man questioning the soul of humanity, and perhaps a glimpse into real bliss nirvana. It's a fun singer-alonger-to. You can check the lyrics here, which are almost as entertaining as listening to the song.
