tha triflin' contract

King Tee and Rakim, two certified legends who both had album projects aborted by Aftermath--Dr. Dre's pet label on Interscope. were they shelved because Dre had more important things to do? maybe...Eminem and 50 Cent were two projects that crowded out Tee & Ra, respectively. were they shelved because they weren't marketable? probably. were they shelved because they weren't any good? past their prime? i doubt it.

the full King Tee album ("Thy Kingdom Come") finally surfaced a few years back with little fanfare, but i liked it for what it was...a "new" west coast record five years behind the times. Rakim has vowed to go the independent route for his forthcoming release, so we'll see. in the meantime, here are two of their lesser-known cuts: King Tee's "Cali Expert" and Rakim's "You Don't Fool Me". the aftermath will put you in the mix, for real.

I am so glad you are back to your old self with this King Tee stuff. I was scurred for a while, this is the type of production I am used to falling over stupid from the weed in the cabin listening to.
