I can usually only listen to one Gabor Szabo song at a time, but buying his records is still a guilty pleasure for me. That link I found is going to lead me to buy a lot of Chico Hamilton now too. Holy shit what a great site.
This week I went to Denver for a meeting and lo and behold across the street was a record shop. I stopped in and picked up Magical Connection, from out of the new arrivals bin. It was one of those records that jumped out because it had not title or artist on the cover (my copy doesn't have the blue label shown in the pic). It was also on Blue Thumb, which I find I usually dig. Gawd I love record stores.
So the reason I can't listen to too much of Gabor is that his guitar makes me Wu-Z. The record on the whole is right on the pop music fence, which guides warn against for his work after 1970, but not really being familiar with pop music, I'm kinda lichen it right now.
